Colosseum came to fame in 1969 when the band led by legendary drummer Jon Hiseman released its debut album Those Who Are About To Die Salute You, followed by best-selling studio albums Valentyne Suite (1969) and The Daughter of Time is Truth (1970), with personnel including Chris Farlowe (famed for 'Out of Time') and blues guitarist Clem Clempson. The group broke up in 1971. Named after the William S. Burroughs novel, Canterbury-scene legends Soft Machine were formed by Daevid Allen, Kevin Ayers, Mike Ratledge and Robert Wyatt in 1966, sharing stages with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground and Frank Zappa, before relea
